Our History  

Founded March 20, 2013 as a 501(c)(3), non-partisan, non-denominational organization.

Led by Dorothy Burton, Former Mayor Pro Tem and City Councilmember, City of Duncanville, TX, together with Ron J. Anderson, M.D., CEO, Parkland Health and Hospital System ; Oscar Trevino, Mayor, City of North Richland Hills; Ronald E. Jones, Mayor, City of Garland; Rob Franke, Mayor, City of Cedar Hill; Helen Roberts; David Dean, former Texas Secretary of State; and, Dr. Larry Mercer - Christians in Public Service, Inc. was founded to provide a faith-based forum to teach, encourage and inspire those who serve, lead and govern. And, to provide a safe space for networking without regard to political affiliations. 

The Path Forward

On January 17, 2023, the Board of Directors voted to abbreviate the official name of Christians in Public Service, Inc. to simply CIPS, Inc., - approving a new logo.  Same heartbeat for God's truth and principles in public service.

We are not a "religious" organization but an educational and inspirational one that believes in the founding principles of separation of church and state, the Kingdom of God, and understand the natural tension inherent in serving as people of faith in government. 

Serving God as representatives of our cities and communities, and what that looks like in today's realities of representative democracy under the arc of the Kingdom.

It will take the wisdom of scripture and the unique know-how of an organization such as CIPS, Inc. to serve and impact effectively, increasingly diverse communities in increasingly diverse and divisive environments.
