The Motive is Defeat

It's not a matter of "if" we're going to win. It's a matter of when. Because God has already declared it, if we just stand.
You'd better believe there are powers marshaled against us. Powerful spiritual forces.

We have nothing but the truth of God's word to keep us motivated to keep standing in the armor God has provided. Motivation comes from within. That's why "motivational speeches" have little lasting value. Motivation comes from the Greek word kinitro (motive).

We are "motivated" by something from within. Motivation is internal. Inspiration is external. Motivation is the engine of the spirit. We can be inspired by a beautiful poem or sunset. But it is soon forgotten. Motivation keeps us going when we want to quit. And lack of motivation will cause us to quit.

The fight is real. But God has declared the end from the beginning and the Holy Spirit will help us be victorious. It has been so declared.

Know that every attack is strategic. Not willy-nilly. Satan is way too smart and strategic to scattershoot. He always has a target.

Demonic forces come against us strategically. There is always something they are after! And the spirit of discouragement usually comes against us when we are on the brink of something great. The Enemy attacks to discourage. He is strategic. Very strategic. Know this.

Discouragement is powerful. And if we allow ourselves to be discouraged long enough, we eventually will give up and quit. Kings X, the Enemy will have done what he set out to do. Defeat us.

No ifs, ands or buts about it. If we can be discouraged, we will be defeated. David so understood this. That's why he often encouraged himself in the Lord. So must we. The Adversary has not changed his tactics.

If he can discourage us, he will eventually defeat us. Discouragement is rooted in lies. The spirit of discouragement will always whisper lies into our spirit. Things like, "this will never work, you may as well give up." Or, "who told you, you could do this?" Or, "You don't have any money and you'll never be able to do this or move up or buy ______." How about this one? "Look how long you've been on this job and you still are not getting anywhere, and won't."  On and on and on.

Discouragement begins as a drip, and if we don't combat the devil's lies of discouragement with the truth of God's word, the drip will turn into a deluge of depression. The spirit of discouragement and the spirit of depression (non-clinical) are the Enemy's one, two punch.

The only weapon to overcome and defeat the spirit of discouragement is God's word. Remember, the spirit of discouragement's power is lies. The only way to overcome a lie is with the truth.

When the spirit of discouragement comes against us, we must, must say out loud, truth. God's word. It is not enough to think it, we must say it!
We will bring about what we talk about!
For example, when the spirit of discouragement whispers to you about money, and not having enough -  say out loud, Philippians 4:19, "And my God will supply all my (make it personal) needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

When the spirit of discouragement whispers to you that you will never succeed or accomplish what you have been trying so long and hard to accomplish. Never get into agreement with it by repeating the lie, "I'll never make it. "This will never work."

NO! This  is exactly what the Adversary wants us to do because he knows our words, as a Kingdom citizen, carry significant weight and authority.

We will bring about what we talk about!

Instead say out loud Galatians 6:9, "Let me not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, I will reap a harvest if I don't give up!"

This is how you combat and defeat the spirit of discouragement! As I mentioned earlier, David understood this and this is how he strenghtened himself in the Lord. He talked to God about good He was. How magnificent his works. And David didn't even have the benefit of Jesus' words or Paul's, or Peter's or James'. He didn't have the benefit of the New Testament as we do. Yet, we allow ourselves to be so easily overcome and we have the whole of scripture.  Don't.

If we can be discouraged, it won't be long before we are defeated. Discouragement is the method. Defeat is the motive. And it is an internal spiritual battle. But God has given us the means to overcome the method and not go down in defeat -- his word.

Make It About Them

Want to get the most from your team? You must first  take the time to get to know each member of your team. And when it comes to the most difficult one on your team, you may prefer instead eating a nail sandwich. But leadership has it privileges, but also its nails.

Post-pandemic, we have to learn how to "people again."

What works for Jason won't necessarily work for Jim. And what works for Sally won't work for Sue.

Forget about treating people on your team the way you want to be treated. Instead, take the time to learn from them how they want to be treated and treat them that way. They are not you!

Communication is key. In order to maximize team talent, communicate to each one in a way that makes sense to them. Not to you.

You may respond best to a command-type military style. That doesn't necessarily and likely will not cut it with those on your team.

Take the time to listen to people and once you do, your communication will improve, work will flow more smoothly and more will get done.

People resist when we insist on treating them and communicating with them our way. No, the better way, is their way.

Treat people the way they want to be treated and communicate with people in ways that make sense to them.

It will make a difference in morale and productivity. And it could be the thing that one difficult team member needs most to become more productive..

Pitch each player a ball they can not only hit, but knock out of the park. The whole team will win.

They're Smart. You Have To Be Wise.

There will always be someone on your job, in the community, even on your team plotting your downfall. Count on it.

They will smile in your face and will never come to you but will go around you and lie to those who hold you in high esteem. Why? To get them to think about you in the most negative way, to move you out of the way. And they will enlist others on the team to help.

Their motive is jealousy. Their method is to diminish you by diminishing how people view you.

No lie is too outlandish because someone will always believe the most outlandish of lies. What you have to do is this:

1. Recognize the origin of the attack. Jesus tells us that Satan is the father of lies and every lie told about you through someone else originated with him.

Know this and it will take your focus off the liar because they don't get that while they are plotting your downfall, the Adversary has already plotted theirs.

2. While they are talking about you, you should be talking to God. You can complain to your friends. They can't help you. You can complain to your family. As much as they love you, they can't help you. As much as King Darius loved and respected Daniel, he was powerless to rescind even his own decree.

3. Know that by signing up to serve and work in the political arena and certainly to lead, your workplace is the lions' den. Your seat of service is in the lions' den.

And among your colleagues, constituents and co-workers, there will always be those who will make it their job to act as lion feeders with you on the menu.

We have not lived or served before in environments like these. Work environments and service environments where it is not so much about the work you do, but who you are.

It is personal. Deeply personal today and everyone is a broadcast journalist with their own social media channel to blast you from here to there.

But it is consistent with who the Enemy is and his modus operandi today.  Lying and amplifying lies against you. As the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2), the airwaves are his (temporarily). And the only way to truly win today is to be consistent in our resolve, will and walk with God.

That which comes against you is spiritual and if you don't recognize this, you will take the bait and get taken to the cleaners.

Next thing you know, you will be the one on administrative leave. You will be the one fired. You will be the one booted from office.

What you have to do is be smarter, wiser, recognizing the attacks for what they are and are designed to do. And while they are prepping the lions, you should be talking to God not posting on social media.

Talking to God worked for Moses against Pharaoh. It will work for you. It worked for Daniel against the lions. It will work for you.  It worked for David against Saul. It will work for you.

What is the "it?" Talking to God and telling "it" to him. He knows intimately every plot, because he knows intimately every heart. And he hears every word spoken in "secrecy."

This is one of the reasons why King Solomon, the wisest man to have ever lived admonishes us to "guard your heart with all diligence because from it flows the issues of life." (Proverbs 4:23).

We have to guard our heart. What comes in because whatever we allow in will flow out. And in the case of liars and those who plot against you, it is much too late for them.

They already have opened their heart to hate, lie and deceive.  Do not open yours to receive. Every plot conceived, is birthed in the heart.

God knows our heart. He knows when a heart has been compromised by the Adversary. And it is why and how he knows best and more intimately the very plans and will of people and can neutralize them in ways we never could.

All we know is they're lying and it's hurtful. What we don't know, can't know, is how to neutralize them. Only God knows that.

He drowned Pharoah's army, shut the mouths of lions, deflected Saul's spears, caused enemies of Israel to hear armies that weren't there - even raised a dead Jesus to yet reign. He will send help from on high.

You may be under attack even as you are reading this. When you walk in integrity, serve above board and stand for right, you will always be ripe for sneak attacks and hatchet jobs.

Just know this, as long as you take a deep breath, get alone with God and tell him about it, people aren't as smart as they think because they didn't have a clue that you are wiser than they thought. The wise always turn to God.

Be wise when it comes to their lies. Don't give your enemies the satisfaction of watching you sweat and swat away their lies.  Instead of having a fit, have a conversation with God and go on about your way.

As they saw with Daniel, they will see with you. You will come out confident, smiling and promoted.

They, on the other hand, will come out only to be fed to the very lions they kept hungry for you.

The greatest tragedy in America today is the tragic falling away from God. In no small part because of the shameless hypocrisy of the very people who claim to be of and represent God.

Demons are influencing the behaviors and decisions at the highest levels just as the Apostle Paul warned in Ephesians 6:12.

At the highest levels on the right and on the left. And at the highest levels in every area of society. Including from many vaulted pulpits.

When a 6-year old can take a loaded gun to school to shoot his teacher, that kid heard angry, hateful speech at home.

Likely A FOX News, NRA home. I just lost some of you right there. Count me as "don't care."

Six-year olds just don't get there on their own. Indoctrination begins at home. Grooming begins at home.

All the "regrooming" in the world cannot regroom a child who has been rooted by his or her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, church family in the word of God to be loving and kind and thoughtful.

Many are learning instead and are being rooted in the language of demons. Sitting at tables set by demons.

No, right-wing friends, and many of you I count as friends, though I may no longer be yours -- the grooming is in hate-filled homes where parents themselves show no respect for authority and where anger and "bad-ass" and "whip-ass" are the new family values.

We would all do well to self check before we try to put others in check.

As David in Psalm 139 so beautifully wrote, "Search me O God and know my heart. Try me and know my anxious thoughts.  And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way."

It begins first from within. Me first. Want to talk about America first? Change that to "me first."

We have a generation teaching children and leading citizens the wrong way for selfish gain.

Not the Republican way or the "woke" way. But the demonic way.

And as we as an organization re-emerge, as we have re-imagined, re-grouped and re-thought, we will stand firmly on truth. Teaching truth, boldly proclaiming truth. We who follow Christ are to be the light of the world. It is who we are to be!

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." - Jesus (Matthew 5:14-16)

And the world, including America, is mighty dark these days. Dark, demonic and arrogant. We boast in our arrogance and it is a stench in the nostrils of Holy God.

No weapons, investigations, indictments, party platforms, money, influence can fight back against the powerful enemies that have risen against us all.

And they now rest, rule and reign in high places.

He Said What He Said

How can we celebrate the birth and life of Jesus and yet refuse to hear him? Obey him? Fully represent him when representing him goes against our political platform and/or pocketbook?

Everything is political, yet nothing is political when it comes to God's word. It is what God said.

The Apostle Paul, understanding his calling and assignment kept first himself in check. "Therefore I run, not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified." 1 Corinthians 9:26-27

In our decision-making our first thought should be what Jesus taught. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

If you wouldn't want to be treated the way you are treating someone else, don't treat them that way.

Jesus also taught that whatever we do to the least of people (those who don't have and are looked down on) we've done it also to him.

It's deep. And as leaders with control over people's lives, livelihoods and quality of life, we someday will be held accountable.

Greatly accountable as we one day stand before Jesus and justify why we did what we did in spite of what he told us to do.

He said what he said.
