No Matter What You Matter

Rahab was a high-priced, high-dollar prostitute in Jericho. God used her to help the spies in the Battle of Jericho. God saved Rahab and she would go on to become the great-great-great-grandmother of David. As in King David.

Salmon was the father of Boaz. Rahab was Boaz's mother.

Boaz was the father of Obed.

Obed was the father of Jesse.

Jesse was the father of David.

David would become the greatest King, to this day, in the history of Israel and the only man God called one after his own heart. It all began when David's great-great-great grandmother, a prostitute, decided to do a good deed.

God didn't reject her. The spies didn't look down on her. A far cry from the religious today. That's why I keep hammering on the fact that these people DO NOT represent the God of the Bible. They would even reject what I just wrote though it is straight scripture!

God's heart is redemption. Jesus died for our redemption. So great a price to let some human tell you what a terrible person you are and look down their sanctified nose on you? God says no!

In the end, not only would this former prostitute go on to marry and become the great great great grandmother of the greatest King in history But, she is also the only woman listed with Sarah -- the wife of Abraham and mother of the faith in the hall of faith in the Book of Hebrews.

Only God knows our future and our past; and, He will use the least likely to do amazing things. So take heart today. Where you are is not where you are meant to stay and no matter your past, God knows and holds a great future for you. And the thing about it? It is our past that prepares us for our future.

If it is in your heart to serve. Serve. If God has purposed you to lead. Lead. You are redeemed.

Rahab learned tricks of a trade that eventually birthed a nation. God uses it all. Our good. Our bad. Our ugly. To get us to where he all along purposes us to be. Always for a greater purpose.

What you did, you were supposed to do. What you didn't do, you weren't supposed to do it. The opportunities lost, gained... Whatever.

God is Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the end. He knows the end from the beginning and if he lived in time, his past would be our future.

No matter what age you are, or how you believe you may have "messed up" or "screwed up" -- Trust God with your future. Just take it a day at a time.

Know that no matter what... you matter to God because in Him, He has your best yet ahead of you!??

What The Battle Is About

We can't educate people who have no desire to learn or who believe they already know it all. We can't stay with people who don't want to be with us.

Though already planned by God, that's why Paul left his own and went in a whole different direction. Thank God he did. Had he kept doing what he was doing, trying to help people who didn't even realize they needed help and who didn't want to hear him, all that was in him would have died with him.

Imagine the Bible without the Books of Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, and some scholars attribute the book of Hebrews to Paul.

As we come to the end of what for many has been a challenging year, and as God blessed me to go on an unexpected, incredible journey with some amazing people and an amazing teacher, it is crystal clear to me what God would have me do. No, I am not going anywhere, just the opposite.

That's why we have to have ears that hear. What Satan means for evil, God means for good and often where Satan fights against us the hardest is the place of our harvest.

If you are being unusually challenged, it is not a time to quit or wallow in hurt feelings, but a time to step back and take a different view, God's view based upon the truth of his word.

When God gets ready to elevate us, He will cause a deep stirring within us we can't explain and/or inexplicable, often random attacks. Know that all attacks against his people are allowed by God for a greater purpose. And oftentimes that purpose is for growth or promotion. How do I know this? Because a fundamental principle is in all things God allows all things to work together for good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose. (Paul again - Romans 8:28)

And God's purpose is to draw us, grow us and promote us.

As the year ends, I hope you reading this will stop and re-evaluate where you are too. The days are evil and God is speaking to and leading his people in incredible ways. It will take courage, wisdom and heart.

Stop trying to squeeze into places and spaces where you no longer fit. God has something else, something better in store for you!  This is why Jesus told the disciples to go back and wait. Do nothing until they receive the Holy Spirit. The work he had for them to do would be more dynamic, and reach further, but would require him to work through them to accomplish it because the battle would be spiritual.

The same is true of us today. People won't show us who they are. But over time, God will reveal to those he has called and set aside for his purpose, who they are. Believe what he shows and reveals to you. Then wait on him to work, by way of the Holy Spirit through you because the battles we fight today are, too, spiritual.

People sometimes are not who they appear or want people to believe they are. No matter their sweet words and good deeds.
No matter how religious they appear to be. Especially how religious they appear to be! God knows their motives because he knows their heart.

He reveals. And revelation is a process. Sometimes a painful one because he allows us to see people for who and what they truly are. Not who we have accepted them to be. Even ourself.

In the process of promotion, God leaves no one out, not even us. We must examine ourselves. And in the end, it won't matter who doesn't like you, endorse you, support you, call your name, award you, recognize you, or honor you when God has called you.

When God purposes you, it doesn't matter who opposes you. When God is for you, he is more than any person or people against you. It is what the battle has been about.

Believe this. ??

We Keep On Biting

We Keep On Biting

Friday, November 17, 2023 3:33 AM
Friday, November 17, 2023 3:33 AM

"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge in the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself." If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other." - Apostle Paul to the churches in Galatia, Galatians 5:15 (Apostle Paul if he were writing to Christian leaders in America)

A bait of Satan is to dangle in front of us the worst behavior of one to deceive us into categorizing and hating all. It sows division and is an old but very effective deception.

Jesus says in Matthew 12:25 that a house (home, community, city, state, country)
divided against itself will not stand. The Adversary well knows this. But in America, among leaders who profess Christianity, many keep right on biting.

This is just one example of the many issues plaguing us. Satan has many bait, many hooks and he is hauling in quite a catch.

As godly leaders, having a biblical worldview is useless if we don't understand how to
and have the will, knowledge and discipline to apply God's word in order to not only not bite the bait but one another.

Jesus said the world would know we are his by our love for one another (John 13:35). If people who are not Christians and even those who are - if they watched you, listened to you and noted how you treat others, would they know you belong to Jesus if you didn't tell them?

Not much love is being shown today among leaders who profess to be Christians. And this unfortunately for many has become the idea of what Christianity is and they want no part of it or us. Sad reality.

It has become a game of who can outshout the other, defame the other, and humiliate most the other in the name of a god unrecognizable by true biblical standards.

Satan has found the perfect fishing hole. A treasure trove in the cove of Christianity among many of America's political leaders who profess to be Christians, but whose behavior and words illustrate anything but.

Jesus left the task of telling, illustrating, and disciplining the entire world in the hands of eleven men. Thank God they were neither Democrats or Republicans, but men who loved God more than themselves, their country or their heritage.

This is what it will take today. John F. Kennedy made the profound statement that rings throughout history, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

If what, as Christians, we can do for the country is spread more division, anger and angst, what good are we to our fellow countrymen and more important, to the Kingdom?

It is time to stop taking the bait and start taking a hard look at ourselves and what we are about as a nation and as leaders.

If the goal is to seek the limelight, more followers on social media and to have your name praised on FOX News or CNN, you have taken the bait.

If all you can see when you look across the aisle at someone who is of a different race or political party as an enemy - and look upon them with disdain and hate, you have taken the bait.

We have a lot of baited Christian leaders and when the time is right to do the most harm to them, their families and the people they serve, Satan is going to reel them in and do what skilled fishermen do, gut them.

Rest assured, if you have taken the bait of hatred, anger, arrogance, sowing seeds of discord, and looking for hits on social media, you are baited and sooner or later will be gutted.

The time for America is now. The time for godly leaders who will stand for the Kingdom in America is now.

As Christians, we have one Adversary who hates us all equally - black, white, Republican or Democrat.

When he looks at a born-again believer no matter if they are on the right or left, he doesn't see an elephant or donkey, he sees a lamb. That is top of mind to him in every scheme, in every lie and in every plot he entices us to engage.

But we can't see the forest for the trees of politics nor the hook for the bait. I implore every leader in a position of leadership, whether locally or nationally to take time to re-examine themselves.

As we enter Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons and time to breathe, I urge you to take stock of things. Of you. Who you are, what you've been saying, how you have been acting and treating others. I challenge you to open the Bible and compare notes.

The only thing that matters is not if the press is singing your praises or giving you accolades. But have you given God your best or worse, taken the bait?

Be the kind of leader who can proclaim to the world that you lead with your life.

Same Side Different Team

Quite simply, religion doesn't displace love but replaces love with rituals and rules. God is love. That's why Jesus was repulsed by what he saw in the religious leaders.

They had no love and had replaced love with rituals and rules. Even more and at the crux of it, had displaced God as King!

It absolved them of having to care for the least, the poor, the lost, the gentiles, the Samaritans, or whomever else they deemed unworthy and it put them where they did not belong.

Deciding who was acceptable or not. Redeemable or not. Approved or not.

They put themselves in the very seat of God. In the seat of judgment. In the seat of supply and resource.

That's why Jesus would often say that while they did the right things, their hearts were far from him. Jesus was God in the flesh. God is love. They had no love.

Paul dealt with the same throughout Asia Minor with fellow Jews and the Gentiles. The religious were still telling the people they had to adhere to not only traditional Jewish law but new ones they imposed.

Paul had to be steeped in Jewish law and Roman laws and customs. And he was. He knew well the political AND the religious aspects. He was brilliant having been born a Jew in the Roman city of Tarsus, educated by the top Rabbi of his day, of the very tribe of Benjamin, a Pharisee.

Yet with Roman citizenship and well well-versed in that culture. It's why he was so useful to God.

Saul did not "turn into Paul." Paul was born a Jew in the Roman city of Tarsus and dual names were common. Saul, Hebrew reference, Paul, among Romans and Greeks. Saul himself was a hardcore Jewish nationalist.

In fact, when Jesus called him, he called him by his Hebrew name.. Saul.

Uniquely set apart by God. He needed a Paul who understood both worlds. And, who could speak the language and understand the religious and political culture of both.

Paul, like Jesus, spent a good portion of his time teaching and preaching redemption, not religion. Love not ritual.

This is what we are dealing with today my friends with the idolatry of nationalism.

It's not just "Christian nationalism." I almost hesitate to say this because I do not want to offend. But it is deeper than that. There are people fighting against Christian nationalism because it goes against "church and state" and their political progressive views.

Nothing wrong with that. We all need to be in this fight!! However, I stand against it for very different reasons. Because nationalists have put themselves where they don't belong. In a seat where they don't belong.

Those of us fighting against this cancer on democracy and individual freedoms are on the same side. Many of us are just not on the same team.

I can stand with non-Christians, and those of other faiths, even those of no faith in this fight against the dangerous encroachment of Christian nationalism and I do. Same side, but different team. Allies, not teammates. To be clear. I am Team Jesus. Not team blue, team red, or team purple.

That is what I mean when I say that just because you're on the same side doesn't mean you're on the same team. Love not control. Freedom and redemption not domination.

Not America first. Kingdom first.

God Isn't An America First God

Monday, November 13, 2023 5:42 PM
Monday, November 13, 2023 5:42 PM

It is as simple and as complex as this. 21st-century Christian nationalists are to America what 1st-century Judaizers were to Israel.

Jesus spoke against them. So did Paul and the prophets. And before my trip to Greece, I dabbled some in warning people but that was a battle I did not see as mine. One I did not want to take on.

I saw it as a "evangelical Christian problem." It was their problem. Let them fix their problem.

But it is all of our problem as followers of Jesus Christ. Because it is now forcibly mandating how we are to live, educate our children and live freely our lives.

It is driving people, especially young people, away from the church because they see the hypocrisy. And many are too blind to see that the problem is the problematic church. The most vocal church people preach one thing to the rest of us, yet live as they want.

It is for freedom Christ died for us all. We are free to choose or not. Believe or not believe. They speak the words but have hearts of stone except for their own.

It's how the religious of Jesus' day could so easily lead the charge to crucify the very One they had waited decades for as foretold by the prophets.

Be leery of anyone speaking the language of Christianity without love and compassion for people. Watch how they live not what comes from their lips. Without the correct application of scripture. Applying it only to fit a political and social ideology or construct.

We need wise, bold, knowledgeable leaders unafraid and unashamed to push back against this heresy that is destroying the people of God, dividing our communities, cities, states, and nation, and minimizing justice and righteousness for all.

Those who claim to be for right but keep their mouth shut for fear of offending those with deep pockets and big platforms, thus shutting off the spigot of dollars and open doors. They should be ashamed. I have tuned many out though I still count them as friends.

But as the Apostle Paul asked the believers in Corinth, “What do you have that God hasn't given you? And if all you have is from God, why act as though you are so great, and as though you have accomplished something on your own?” (1 Corinthians 4:7)

What do any of us have that God didn't provide or need that he won't provide? We need righteousness, not self-righteous, controlling, religious dogma.

Not those claiming some mysteriously Christian "special knowledge" as so many of them claim to have. There is no one given in this century  "special knowledge" nor has God given anyone or any religion a special assignment to lord their religion over the rest of us.

In fact, Jesus taught the opposite. They speak in broad  terms of "America First," "Christian nation," and " biblical worldview," as it pertains to governments and systems, governing bodies, curriculums, statutes, and especially if they speak of having a mandate from God to guard the "gates of the city."

These are not evil people but seriously misguided people who believe they have been given special powers, special mandates, and special orders directly from God.

Some will come to you speaking in "tongues." Claiming to have special knowledge or a word from God for the nations or for cities. These people have control now of many state legislatures and their goal is to take over cities, then states, then the nation. And it is up to us, who know better to teach better. As did Jesus. As did the Apostles.

All of this sounds like a Steven Spielberg movie but it is our reality in America. It did not end well for Israel in the 1st century and it will not end well for America in the 21st.

The self-imposed shackles are off my feet. My mind is as clear as the Aegean Sea and my heart beats for truth in governing and serving and educating people.

If I am like the salmon swimming upstream I am confident in knowing there were those before me who did the same. There are always those in every generation. This happens to be my generation. Your generation. Our generation.

And when it is all said and done I want it said of me as it was with many of old that I "served the purposes of God in my generation."

I used to be one of those folks. God called me out from among them but until this two-week long sabbatical of sorts to the ancient cities of the Bible, I didn't have the confidence.

Now I do. What can these people do to me? One word, nothing.

What has God done for me? One word, everything. All to Him I owe. And I owe people nothing but an obligation as commanded by Jesus to love them.
