Christians in Public Service John 13:35 Exceptional Public Servant Award

The Christians in Public Service John 13:35 Exceptional Public Servant Award is a special award given only on special occasions to recognize a remarkable public servant who through their actions demonstrated: 

  • Extraordinary Christlike love
  • Outstanding servant leadership
  • Sacrificial courage
  • Selfless devotion to the well-being of another
  • A rare act or acts toward another or others that is life-changing, life-giving or life-saving

The Inaugural Christians in Public Service John 13:35 Exceptional Public Servant Award will be awarded on Saturday, November 9, 2019 to The Honorable David W. Evans, Justice 5th Court of Appeals Texas.

On September 10, 2019, Judge Evans donated a kidney to friend and colleague, Chief Justice (Ret.) Carolyn Wright, 5th Court of Appeals Texas, which literally saved her life.

Justice Evans was appointed by Governor Gregg Abbott on November 1, 2019 to the Court of Appeals. He is former Judge 95th Civil District Court.

Judge Evans is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association, life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Dallas Bar Foundation.

Additionally, he is a board member and trail steward of Audubon-Dallas.

Judge Evans earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
